Colorado State University veterinarians and veterinary students will provide free eye exams to service dogs on May 6 at the university's Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Guide dogs, handicapped assistance dogs, detection dogs and search-and-rescue dogs are eligible for the exams. The hospital is at 300 W. Drake Road in Fort Collins.

A 9-month-old baby pushed through a window screen and fell two stories last Tuesday night. At 5:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the apartment complex in Northglenn, according to a news release from the North Metro Fire Rescue District. The infant fell two stories, about 10 feet, onto the gravel below. The 9-month-old was taken to Denver Health Medical Center and appears to have non life-threatening injuries.

The House has voted to cut $106 million from the president's request for $1.036 billion for meat inspections by the Department of Agriculture. That money would help pay for the inspectors who oversee the 6,300 plants that process the nation's meat and poultry supply.
