A 20 year old is recovering at Denver Health with a broken neck, broken jaw - and an arm he cannot move - after a driver grabbed him and drove off at 30 mph until the victim's clothing gave way. Just after midnight, Saturday morning the young man was walking from a party with two friends. As he walked along Harlan Way in Denver, a pickup truck turned a corner and almost ran over him.

At first it seems shocking - police arrested 274 people over the Super Bowl weekend in Colorado on suspicion of drinking and driving. But, the silver lining is that for the second year in a row, DUI arrests for Super Bowl weekend were down in Colorado. The weekend total this year is down by almost 100 arrests from 2010 when 371 DUI arrests were made. In 2011, 303 were arrested.
It was a great "feel good" story about a dramatic dog rescue by a local firefighter. The dog, named "Gladiator Maximus" or "Max" for short, was rescued from a Lakewood reservoir Tuesday after falling through ice into frigid water. Tyler Sugaski is the West Metro Fire Protection District firefighter who pulled the dog from the water. During the rescue, Max, a 3-year-old who weighs about 85 pounds, could be seen swimming right to Sugaski as the firefighter worked his way to the edge of the ice.
Denver police stopped Rep. Laura Bradford, R-Collbran, near the Capitol on the night of Jan. 25 for a traffic violation. The officer smelled alcohol and administered a roadside sobriety test, said Denver police Lt. Matt Murray. Bradford initially said she had only one glass of wine but later said she consumed three.
Turkish sheepdogs prized for their fierceness and fearlessness are raising concerns in southwest Colorado communities where ranchers are using them. The Akbash (literally "white head") weigh up to 120 pounds and are especially aggressive toward animals near the sheep they guard. That can include hikers and backcountry visitors -- and some people are concerned that they are scaring away tourists.
